Welcome to the wonderful realm of What-If. Imaginative literature gives us a chance to explore the might-have-beens, the never-weres, and the could-becomes. Speculative fiction is one of my primary fields, and I have a number of regular slots including "Book Reviews from Hypatia's Hoard" in the Webzine Spicy Green Iguana and a series of thematic articles in Pulp Eternity. I write articles, essays, short stories, poetry, reviews, and sundry other material relating to matters imaginative -- some of which is reprinted in this section.
Most of this material breaks down more or less neatly into three genres: science fiction, fantasy, and horror. I have chosen to give these three categories their own pages because of their radically different moods and because many people read only one or two types of speculative fiction. However, it is necessary to acknowledge "the ever-popular other" in addition to the widely-recognized genres, and some of my writing addresses more than one genre. So I have put this amorphous and miscellaneous material under the final category as "trans-genre."
That said, please suspend your disbelief from a convenient hook and come explore a selection of fact and fiction assembled to entertain as well as educate. Whether you want to write in this field yourself or read what others have written -- or, like me, both -- you are sure to find something of interest here.
