I have been studying ancient religions and mythology for many years. I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Rhetoric major and a Women's Studies minor. I won my first prize money for writing in high school -- $100 for an environmental essay contest. I made my first sale (an invocation) to SageWoman magazine, and since then I have broken into paying publication with articles, ritual and invocational material, poetry, reviews, fiction, interviews, and columns. Alternative spirituality and speculative fiction are my two primary fields.
As I continue to develop my writing career, new markets open up, and I recently added editing to my list of skills. Right now I hold two positions at Blessed Bee, Inc. which are Managing Editor of PanGaia magazine and Assistant Editor for SageWoman magazine. As part of the first job, I write the editorial column "First Impressions" in PanGaia. I also write the educational column "Over the Bridge: Where to Begin" in SageWoman. Besides that, I continue to publish assorted pieces in a wide variety of markets, including CIRCLE Magazine, New Age Retailer, Crystal Sands Catazine, New Moon Catazine, LunaSol, and PagaNet News. My poetry publications include "The Long Fall into Autumn" in the anthology Prairie Poets, "Accompaniment" in Hadrosaur Tales, and "Blue Corn Girl Descends into Summer" inLlewellyn's 2000 Magical Almanac.
Anyone wanting to track down some of my other work is welcome to contact me for a list of currently available pieces. I enjoy public speaking and often participate in workshops, panels, or other programming at Pagan events. I have also participated in a number of projects organized by various Pagan groups, including a dictionary definition project, the Pagan Leaders recommended reading list, and the Papal Apology; I remain active in Pagan leadership on a variety of levels. Favorite pastimes include memetic engineering, creative peacemongering, and taking dictation from Mother Nature.
