Artist Tributes

The Walking Billboard says...

These creative and generous folks have made their artwork available for use in Website design, which in turn makes it possible for other folks to produce gorgeous Websites. When it comes to art, I fly on their wings. All I have done is assemble the pieces in a kind of virtual collage and add my own words. The artistic genius belongs to those who devote long hours to creating these visual delights. I don't work for any of them; I just happen to love their stuff ... and I also love passing the word about really nifty things.

In exchange for the use of their work, graphic artists typically ask for a link to their site along with appropriate credit appearing with the art. I have chosen to go a bit farther in establishing this page, which is intended to help both them and you by highlighting their work and directing you to some of the best creative minds on the Web should you have a need for their services. Even if you're not shopping for online images, these sites are still delightful to look at, so surf by and enjoy the electronic art.

Moyra's Web JewelsMoyra presents her work in Moyra's Web Jewels, a virtual mine that yields many splendid gems. Moyra's contributions to my site include the sets "Treasured Felines" (on the Animal Magic/Totems pages), "Deep Space Mine" (on the Speculative Fiction and Science Fiction Overviews, plus all the subsidiary pages under those categories), "Here There Be Dragons" (on the All Hail Hypatia page, plus some related recommended reading lists and the Uncommon Sense Award page), "Scroll Fetish" (on Quotes and the other Entertainment content), and "Late 20th Century Dimensions" (on all the PenUltimate Productions pages like my publication credits and writer's bios). Her artwork typically includes rich, saturated colors and she draws heavily from natural, historic, and mythic sources for inspiration. Moyra is probably my all-around favorite electronic artist.

You will find many treasures in Moyra's mine. She does custom graphics, book and CD covers, Website design including commercial sites, and custom chart paintings in conjunction with her professional astrology business. Her Website also displays some of her earlier abstract and visionary paintings (prints available) plus samples of her commercial work. You can even license the free Web Jewel sets for commercial use, at affordable rates, if you find the perfect set already made -- something most graphic artists don't allow. Moyra upholds the protection of intellectual property online, as you can see in her 11th Commandment campaign and Ruby Raspberry of Infamy un-award; to avoid confusion, she spells out her policies very clearly in the Golden Rule and Iron Clad Rule sections so that people know how to use the Jewels properly. She also issues some favorable and prestigious awards to superlative Websites in assorted categories. Finally, Pixelita's Advice covers important points of Website design like font sources, program descriptions, filter usage, and step-by-step tutorials for various techniques.

Winter's PagesWinter created the exquisite "Whiteflower" set used on my Spirituality Overview page and many other pages under that category. Winter's Pages include quite a diversity of topics to explore; besides electronic artwork, her interests include cats, crystals & gemstones, Tarot, herbs and other magic. Her site also features a selection of chat rooms on sundry topics. I love the kaleidoscope/tie-dye effect that characterizes Winter's work.

Jelane K. Johnson came up with the sleek, austere-yet-colorful imagery that inspired me to select her "Technical" set for my main page and sitemap. In designing my Website, I wanted it to look professional yet interesting and eye-catching; Jelane's Free Web Graphics gave me just what I needed. She also does Website development & maintenance, software design, and technical writing; and she has taught a variety of classes on computer literacy, Internet/WWW use, design, and so forth. This site contains much useful information on how Jelane creates her gorgeous graphics, although she claims not to be a graphic artist. I beg to differ.

Windy's Web DesignWindy produced the exotic "Eaglewoman" set that appears on my Fantasy Overview page. I picked this one for its resemblance to some of my characters (no, these haven't appeared in print yet -- be patient). Windy's Web Design includes some tips on HTML plus information about Windy's customized designs, Internet consulting, Web design, classes and seminars on HTML.

Velvet Gypsy DesignsLissa Pruitt cast her "Gothic Shadows" set over my Horror Overview and Gothic Paganism pages, along with the other pages under the Horror category. I love the delicate little cobwebs. Velvet Gypsy Designs reminded me of a virtual fabric store with its sumptuous artwork. Besides artwork, which she creates mainly for entertainment, Lissa also enjoys reading and music.

Logo RitaRita Peitz produced the rainbow-hued "Colorful Bubbles" set which graces my Gender Studies/Alternative Sexuality Overview and the other pages under that category. Web Sorcery offers a handy FAQ list with information on graphics programs, text manipulation, font sources, and the like. Rita also hosts her own domain, Team Creations, as a base for professional Web design; she does custom graphics, too. Her partners in the Team Creations business live in the United States. Rita herself lives in Germany, where she raises Birman cats -- magnificent creatures, you should just see the photos on her cattery page. Her other interests include music and languages.
